Webinars for implementing online services for patients

Patient Online delivered a number of Webinars during 2016/17 to support practice staff in promoting and offering online services to their patients.  The topics covered were those that practices asked for and provided an opportunity for participants to ask questions following the formal presentation. The webinars were recorded and slides were made available to all participants.  Please follow the links below for each webinar to either view the recording or request the slides.

Scheduled Patient Online Webinars” for Patient Participation Group (PPG) Members

If you have wanted to book an appointment with your GP or practice nurse, order a repeat prescription, check a test result, or find out before you go on holiday which immunisations you have had, the only way you could previously do this was to visit or phone your surgery.

This is not always convenient for patients, as it is often hard for them to fit in an appointment during their day, especially if they are working or caring for someone else.

The NHS is making more of ‘digital’ – the internet, smartphones and tablets – and is offering patients the opportunity to do all of these things online, via a website or an app, if they want to.

Surgeries across England are promoting GP Online Services to patients and many have reported that their PPG was instrumental in letting their patients know about online access and how to get started.

To help you understand more about GP Online Services, and give you the opportunity to ask questions, we are holding a series of webinars on GP Online Services aimed at Patient Participation Group (PPG) members.

Each webinars is FREE to attend, will last between 60 and 90 minutes (depending on how many questions are asked), and covers the following topics:

  • What GP Online Services are
  • What the benefits are for patients
  • What the benefits are for practices and practice staff
  • How PPGs can help to promote GP Online Services to patients
  • Tips and ideas on promoting GP Online Services uptake amongst patients and public, and how to access the promotional resources.
  • Computer literacy
  • Data security
  • Further support and linking with other PPGs via Knowledge Hub
