Care home staff can order medication online, on behalf of the residents in their care.

Proxy access accounts must be set up for each, named, member of staff that will order medication on behalf of residents.

Monthly and adhoc ordering is done through the GP clinical system, but there is a slightly different process for each.

Yes. A resident’s next of kin or other approved representative (e.g. someone with power of attorney) can agree this.

The care home manager can request it if they believe it to be in the resident’s best interests.

The GP can also agree to proxy access if he or she believes it to be in the resident’s best interests.

The NHS App and other apps are only for use by individuals. They are not recommended for care home use.
