Adrian Krajewski, Learning Technology Lead Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust

What if a trainee clinician could practise a difficult patient conversation as many times as they needed, in a safe environment, before ever stepping into a ward? For Adrian Krajewski, that’s not a vision for the distant future. It’s something he’s already building.

As Learning Technology Lead at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, Adrian sits at the intersection of frontline education and digital strategy, translating ambitious ideas about the future of workforce development into practical, scalable reality. His role spans everything from architecting the Trust’s long-term digital learning infrastructure to engineering AI-driven simulated patients capable of real-time voice and text interaction, giving clinicians an entirely new way to build skills and confidence.

The shift Adrian is driving is fundamental. Where training once relied on static materials, physical classrooms and human patient actors, his team is creating immersive, repeatable digital experiences that can be accessed whenever and wherever staff need them. AI and virtual reality are not bolt-on extras here, they are core tools, thoughtfully deployed and backed by evidence, to improve training quality, accessibility and engagement across the Trust.

The impact is tangible: improved staff competence and confidence, stronger clinical preparation, and a learning infrastructure built to grow with the demands of a modern NHS workforce.

“Having seen the profound impact of NHS care from a deeply personal perspective, my work in digital learning is driven by a desire to give our staff the absolute best tools possible,” Adrian says. “By pushing the boundaries of technology in education thoughtfully and backed by evidence, we ensure our clinicians are confident, prepared, and fully supported to deliver the exceptional care the NHS stands for.”

Adrian’s work is a powerful reminder that the analogue to digital shift isn’t only about patient-facing technology, it’s about equipping the people who deliver care with the tools they deserve.
