Lucy Pylypiw

Screening and Immunisation Manager, Surrey and Sussex, NHS England South East

Lucy Pylypiw works at the heart of public health prevention, managing immunisation programmes across the life course for Surrey and Sussex as part of NHS England South East’s Public Health Commissioning Team. She collaborates with service providers, NHS trusts, Integrated Care Boards, and local authorities to ensure vaccination programmes are accessible, equitable, and continuously improving in uptake.

Her work directly demonstrates the NHS’s shift from sickness to prevention. A recent landmark achievement is the implementation of the maternal RSV vaccination programme for pregnant women — a single intervention that has cut infant hospital admissions for RSV by 80%, protecting some of the most vulnerable patients before they are even born.

Lucy views her work as a privilege, valuing the collective effort of colleagues across public health commissioning to deliver services that are fundamental to the NHS’s future

“It’s a privilege to work with so many fantastic colleagues across public health commissioning to deliver services that are key to the shift to prevention and making the NHS fit for the future.”
