Sara Bolton

Chief Allied Health Professions Officer, NHS England South East

Sara Bolton is a physiotherapist and Regional Chief Allied Health Professions Officer for NHS England South East, championing the contribution of 14 Allied Health Professions across community health, neighbourhood health, and integrated care services. She has seen first-hand how AHPs help people regain independence, confidence, and quality of life, and advocates for their central role in prevention, rehabilitation, and person-centred care delivery.

As the NHS marks its 78th birthday, Sara reflects on the values at the organisation’s heart: compassion, equitable access, and putting people first. She believes the NHS’s future depends on innovation, collaboration, and supporting workforce wellbeing.

“I see extraordinary talent, commitment and compassion throughout our services every day as we serve the nation to live more years in good health.”
