Hanah Mecrow

Digital Training Manager, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

Digital transformation doesn’t happen by installing new software. It happens when every member of staff feels confident enough to use it. That’s where Hanah Mecrow comes in.

As Digital Training Manager at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, Hanah is the person who makes the analogue to digital shift real for the people delivering care every day. Her role centres on the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system — developing training plans, welcoming new starters, and upskilling existing teams so that every user feels genuinely confident and competent in the digital tools they rely on.

It’s work that might not always make the headlines, but its impact runs through everything. By reducing reliance on paper-based processes, improving data accuracy and supporting efficient digital workflows, Hanah helps create the conditions for safer, more connected care for patients across Surrey and Sussex.

“I take great pride and satisfaction in my role, working closely with colleagues across the Trust to support meaningful digital improvements,” she says. “I have the privilege of welcoming new starters and supporting existing staff to build confidence in using the EPR, helping to reduce inefficiencies, improve workflows, and ultimately enhance patient safety.”

For Hanah, this work is also deeply personal. As a member of the public whose own family and friends rely on NHS services, she understands first-hand what good digital foundations mean for patients and communities.

“It is incredibly rewarding to know that the digital systems I support help keep patients, teams, and communities connected,” she reflects. “Being part of this ongoing digital transformation within the Trust is a true honour.”

Hanah’s story is a reminder that behind every successful digital shift, there are people quietly, purposefully making it happen.
