Personalised Care Institute
In September 2020, we launched the Personalised Care Institute (PCI) to help staff involved in people’s health and care develop the knowledge and skills to support the implementation of the NHS Long Term Plan and the Comprehensive Model for Personalised Care.
The Institute was set up to:
- set quality standards for training, focussing on 4 of the 6 components of the comprehensive model for personalised care
- support the development of training programmes for the current workforce in order to help them to deliver personalised care to those quality standards
- support the development of training programmes for the new roles identified within primary care networks as part of the NHS Long Term Plan
- ensure that personalised care is represented in relevant undergraduate and post-graduate curricula
- hosts and shares personalised care resources for learners, trainers and commissioners.
The NHS Long Term Plan outlined our aim to ensure that 2.4 million people are given personalised care by 2024. To support this, the health and care workforce must have the knowledge, skills and confidence to bring the personalised care approach to life. The Institute will offer our workforce a range of way to develop these skills.
Training and development opportunities take a variety of forms, from e-learning that can be undertaken at their own convenience, to face-to-face training and a mixture of the two to support different learning needs.
The Institute is working closely with royal colleges and key membership organisations to take a coordinating approach to training, signposting to high quality ‘accredited’ training available across England.
If you are a training provider with a course that could be considered by the Personalised Care Institute or want to seek accreditation for one or more of your courses, please contact accreditation@personalisedcareinstitute.org.uk or complete the form on the PCI website.
