FIT in Secondary Care pilot
Patient information for FIT pilot at Queen’s Hospital and Whipps Cross Hospital
If you’ve recently attended the Emergency and Urgent Care Department (A&E) or PELC at Queen’s Hospital or Whipps Cross Hospital, you may have been asked to do a Faecal Immunochemical Test (or FIT) at home. On this page, you’ll find patient information resources to help you complete your test properly.
What is FIT?
A FIT is an investigation that looks for tiny traces of blood in stools (poo) to rule out cancer.
The resources below provide step-by-step instructions on how to collect your FIT sample at home and what you need to do with your sample once taken. Please read this information carefully – it will help to ensure that your sample is processed and you receive your results quickly.
In addition to an English language version, the leaflet is available to download in a range of community languages – please select from the list and choose your preferred language.
There is also a short video to guide you through the FIT process.
