Pennine Care fixes food access, leave and learning gaps
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust has appointed dedicated leads at executive, non-executive, and resident doctor level to drive implementation of the 10 Point Plan.
The trust has made a range of practical improvements. Hot food is now available 24 hours a day at all 5 boroughs. Clearer leave cover procedures mean doctors no longer need to find their own cover. Self-directed learning is now protected time, scheduled into rotas and written into job descriptions.
All broken or missing lockers have been fixed or replaced, and doctors are told how to access one when they join. A full year’s programme of listening events gives resident doctors direct access to senior leaders, including the chief executive, medical director and freedom to speak up guardian.
Agreements with local acute trust partners mean doctors can access rest spaces and overnight facilities where needed, with clear information sheets for every borough. A simple guide explains how to get a parking permit at each site, with a faster process now in place at Oldham.
A physical information folder sits in every common room, and an electronic version is sent to doctors at the start of each placement, so everything they need is easy to find from day 1.
