Rotas redesigned to work for less-than-full-time doctors
With about a third of its resident doctors now working less than full time, the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has adapted rota patterns to accommodate their needs.
It now issues rotas within the contractual 6-week notice period in most cases and is exploring self-rostering using recently updated rota management software.
Inductions have also been streamlined, with updated local/site handbooks covering essential information including car parking, rest facilities, and kitchen provision.
And all work schedules now include designated time for self-development, with the option for resident doctors to complete this work from home. Course-related expenses can be claimed immediately.
Training on sexual safety and harassment is available on the trust’s learning hub and exception reporting processes have been updated in line with national changes. Doctors are actively encouraged to raise concerns.
